Take the fascinating guided tour around the Arts & Crafts Church and adjacent Edgar Wood Centre. Enjoy ‘cutting edge’ Art Nouveau and the beautiful fittings of England’s finest Methodist church. See Middleton’s Arts & Crafts ‘Trinity’ and The Northern Art Workers Guild exhibition. Enjoy a walking tour of some of Edgar Wood’s experimental houses in the Golden Cluster, where you can observe how he created art deco moderne architecture.
Arts & Crafts Church Access and Facilities – Car parking is at the rear on Lever Street. Wheelchair access is limited to roughly 50% of the church and Edgar Wood Centre interior and not the garden due to substantial changes in level. Toilets, including disabled, are available.

Enjoy five centuries of art and handicraft in Manchester’s finest medieval church, which was restored by Edgar Wood and beautified by Arts & Crafts designers. You will find outstanding medieval brasses, the famous Flodden Window, medieval rood screen and misericords, Jacobean and Georgian craftsmanship and fine examples of Victorian and twentieth century craft work. There is a excellent sequence of stained glass windows by artists from the mid-nineteenth to the mid twentieth centuries.
Queen Elizabeth Grammar School is a short walk away (0.2 miles). It was built in the late 1500s and is believed to be the oldest surviving Queen Elizabethan Grammar School building. It was Edgar Wood’s childhood school and you can even see his graffiti on the walls!
St. Leonard’s Church Access and Facilities – Car parking is at St. Leonard’s Square, immediately adjacent the church, and at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School. Most of St. Leonard’s Church and Queen Elizabeth Grammar School is accessible to wheelchairs. Toilets are available at the church and school but, unfortunately, there is no disabled toilet at the church.
