40 conservation experts visit Middleton’s Golden Cluster

The Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) held its North West Annual General Meeting at Middleton on Thursday 15th November to acknowledge the achievements of the Edgar Wood & Middleton Heritage Project, now in its 10th year. The event was held in the new Edgar Wood Community Centre, i.e. the newly restored Long Street School buildings where over 40 experts from across the north-west, including the Isle of Man assembled. They were treated to a lecture and guided tour by David Morris which included Jubilee Library, the Jubilee Park Staircase and St. Leonard’s Church. The event was organised by the Long Street School project architect, Lisa Macfarlane, and volunteers and helpers included Geoff and Christine Grime, Bob Wall and Maureen Glynn. The photograph shows people setting off on the tour.
