Teachers and children of Elm Wood School had a lovely time on Thursday visiting Middleton’s ancient parish church, looking at the medieval carvings and doing their own brass rubbing. It was such a warm and sunny day and it was great to see children, who attend one of Middleton’s architectural masterpieces, enthusiastically enjoying another. A group of church volunteers, including local historian Geoff Wellens guided the children around showing them something more of the amazing heritage of their home town.
It was a busy day for the volunteers of St. Leonard’s as later that afternoon they also showed around forty conservation experts from the Institute for Historic Building Conservation who were meeting in the newly restored Edgar Wood Long Street Methodist, just down the hill.
